On Tuesday 4th October, Year 6 went on a school trip to the Natural History Museum. This was the first time we went on a train for a school trip, and though it was crowded, it was exciting. The Underground was less fun as it was too loud for some of us.

As we walked into the museum, we were greeted by a small model of Earth, as it was, a few billion years ago. After we had deposited our coats and packed lunches in the cloak room, we explored the red zone – the story of the restless planet we live on.

Once we had finished our lunch, we participated in a show where we had to save the Lego residents of Volcano Town. By learning about how we can study earthquakes and volcanoes, we were able to predict a coming explosive eruption and issue a warning to the inhabitants.

Before getting the train home, we just had time to visit the mammals gallery, see the dinosaur exhibit and visit Dippy, who has returned to the NHM after a time away.

We had a fantastic trip and learnt so much. We look forward to our next trip.
