Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to school after what I hope has been a marvellous summer for all of you and your families. Whilst the six weeks seem to fly by, it is always nice to come back to school to see the children with their new shoes, coats and haircuts! We are very much looking forward to welcoming our new Reception children to Farnborough next week. Being the start of term, I am aware that there a few notices that need to be given and a few dates that you may need to know.

Gate Times

As you would have noticed this morning, the gate opening times have changed so that they open at 8:38. This is due to the fact that the school day does not start until 8:40, with registration being at 8:50. If the children are in the building earlier than this, they are unsupervised as teachers are preparing their lessons for the day. The main gate at the top of the path will open for the school day at 8.35am. Please ensure that you do not drop off and leave your child before this time.
We appreciate your cooperation with this matter.

BYMT

As I am sure many of you are aware, national funding for schools over recent years has steadily decreased. This continues to be the case; unfortunately, Farnborough has felt the biggest financial cuts this year. We will always try to ensure that we continue to offer a variety of extracurricular activities to the children and maintain an excellent standard of education to all of our pupils.

In previous years, the children in Key Stage Two have been fortunate enough to have music lessons taught to them by the fantastic teachers at BYMT. This has resulted in us being able to participate in the Bromley Music Festival at the Churchill Theatre, a Choir Festival and our annual Spring Concert. To ensure that our children are still able to access this excellent provision, the PTA has very kindly offered to pay for half of the cost of the music lessons. This will mean that we will be asking families for a voluntary donation of 10 pounds per term, per child to cover the rest of the cost for BYMT lessons.

We do understand that this is a lot of money to ask for families; therefore, we will be ensuring that the cost of the majority of school trips is much less throughout the year. By the end of the week a letter and form will be sent out to KS2 children for you to sign and return.
