Year 3 pupils stepped back in time this week during a creative outdoor lesson inspired by prehistoric cave art. As part of their history and art curriculum, the children scaled up their own drawings of native British wildlife, using pastels to replicate the earthy tones and textures of Stone Age artwork.
Working on rough, textured surfaces to mimic cave walls, the pupils embraced the challenge of creating their pieces without the usual smooth paper. Despite the bright spring sunshine making the setting quite different from the inside of a dark cave, the young artists remained focused and enthusiastic throughout the session, creating bold and expressive designs.
