During this week the children have experienced different creative activities and traditions to celebrate and gain a deeper understanding of Jamaican culture. Children have listened to Anansi The Spiderman stories, reading poetry by Valerie Bloom, listened to music from Jamaica including music by Bob Marley.  A touch of carnival came Year 4 with them creating wonderful headdresses. Year 1 were able to taste a variety of Caribbean fruit. Through exploring the traditions of weaving, tie-dye and carving the children have created their own work inspired by these traditions. The children also took part in a dance workshop focusing on Afrobeats.
