Farnborough Primary welcomed award-winning author and illustrator Petr Horacek on Wednesday 11th September.
Petr Horacek began the day by giving a whole school talk, giving an insight into how he works and shared some of his stories, including his newly published ‘Blue Monster.’ He led workshops on drawing and using oil pastels. He gave the children lots of tips on how to get ideas for drawings and each child created a drawing of their own. Petr painted a background for a mural and collected the individual art work. It was lovely that the children were able to see him stick their artwork onto the mural. The finished mural was revealed to the whole school in an assembly and celebrated as a nice way to close the day. The mural is to be displayed in school permanently and is a nice reminder than when we work collaboratively we can make something beautiful! Look out for the masterpiece in the school corridor!
After school there was a book sale which provided another opportunity to meet Petr Horacek, where he spent a long time signing books and talking to children and parents. It was a fantastic day enjoyed by everybody, thank you for visiting our school Petr Horacek!
